Nancy O'Dell's professional career started in Myrtle Beach South Carolina as an anchor and reporter for news for WPDE-TV. Then she became a morning reporter and anchor on WCBD TV. The journalist's report on the lack of response of the police in response to DUI instances in Charleston led to an investigation being conducted by the State Law Enforcement Division, which led to a change in direction from the state authorities on DUI cases. According to the Associated Press awarded Ms. O'Dell an award for the Best Report of the year Award to every aspect of South Carolina media.
